CASEnergy Co-Chair Gov. Whitman Visits the “Peach State” in Support of New Nuclear

CASEnergy Co-Chair Gov. Whitman travelled to Savannah, Ga. on Aug 25-26 for the 5th annual Georgia Environmental Conference, and to meet with a variety of individuals, organizations and media outlets who want to hear more about nuclear energy expansion and its necessary role as part of a sustainable clean energy portfolio.

On Thursday, Aug. 26, the governor met with representatives from the Savannah Chamber of Commerce of which about 30 CEOs – civic and business leaders from the largest and most influential companies in the region – attended. The governor made informal remarks, and CASEnergy was able to enroll several new members.

The governor then addressed the 5th annual Georgia Environmental Conference (GEC), one of the premier environmental conferences in Georgia, at which approximately 60 people, representing a variety of industries, attended.  Governor Whitman gave remarks on the “Greening of Economic Development” panel and promoted CASEnergy’s grassroots activities and the benefits of Coalition membership.

On the media front, Gov. Whitman met with the editorial board of the Savannah Morning News on Wednesday, August 25. Gov. Whitman spoke with both editorial board editors and writers, discussing her role with CASEnergy, as well as the need for nuclear power expansion in Georgia, and as part of any sustainable clean energy policy nationwide.

On Thursday, August 26, Gov. Whitman was interviewed by WTOC-TV, the local CBS affiliate in Savannah. In the interview, Gov. Whitman spoke about her affiliation with CASEnergy and the Coalition’s ongoing grassroots efforts in the state. WTOC, which broadcasts in 22 counties of Southeastern Georgia and the Lowcountry of South Carolina, is the number one local news station in Savannah.
