Dr. Moore Sums up Nuclear’s Benefits in the Sunshine State

CASEnergy Co-Chair Dr. Patrick Moore recently made a trip to the Sunshine State on Sept. 16-17 to meet with a variety of individuals and organizations on behalf of the Coalition.

Over the two-day period, Dr. Moore met with representatives of a regional water management board and environmental groups to discuss the many economic and environmental benefits nuclear could bring to their communities and to identify opportunities for collaboration.

Nuclear energy is by far the nation’s largest source of electricity that does not produce greenhouse gases, providing over 70 percent of the nation’s emissions-free electricity.

In addition, the growth of nuclear energy in Florida means jobs.  A new nuclear plant in Florida would create 1,400 to 1,800 construction jobs, with the majority of those jobs at the plant site.

Additionally, Dr. Moore met with CASEnergy members in the area to discuss how they can work together and collaborate on future projects.  He also attended a roundtable event with a local Chamber of Commerce where he gave a comprehensive energy lecture, which focused on the job opportunities nuclear plants would bring to Florida communities.

Lastly, Dr. Moore met with representatives from the American Welder’s Society (AWS) – a new CASEnergy member.
