
On Wednesday, June 22, CASEnergy co-chair Christine Todd Whitman was in New York City to talk about the importance of nuclear power in meeting the nation’s growing energy demand, and the future of nuclear energy in the United States, post-Fukushima.
Gov. Whitman conducted a live interview on WNYC’s morning program, The Brian Lehrer Show. During the 20-minute interview, she addressed how the nuclear industry is working to enhance safety in all U.S. plants referencing both the Fukushima Response Steering Committee and the Blue Ribbon Commission, and discussed the overall future of nuclear energy in the U.S.
Following her morning radio appearance, Gov. Whitman spoke with the Peter Gardett, the editor of the new AOLEnergy blog. She cited the safety changes the U.S. nuclear industry is making in response to Fukushima, stressed the need for new nuclear to meet the country’s energy demands and touted the high-paying job opportunities created by new facilities.
