Dr. Moore in the studio with Edgar Champagne discussing the importance of nuclear to the state's economy, including job creation.
On July 26 – 27, CASEnergy Co-Chair Dr. Patrick Moore met with key community leaders and media outlets in Columbus, Georgia to discuss the importance of nuclear energy in Georgia communities.
Dr. Moore spoke with a number of local media outlets including the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, DJ Chip Radio Show on Foxie 105 FM and the Edgar Champagne Radio Show on Magic 101.3 FM to discuss the economic benefits of nuclear energy and how the construction of new American nuclear facilities support more local high-paying jobs. With two new reactors at Plant Vogtle near Waynesboro and two others pending licensing in Burke, nuclear energy is increasing energy-job opportunities for thousands of local GA residents. Each new reactor alone presents the need for 400 to 700 new workers.
During his conversation with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Dr. Moore commended Southern Company and Georgia Power for successfully building two new reactors at the Plant Vogtle. In fact, the two new reactors will have a more of a positive impact on Georgia electricity customers than was initially projected, and residents can expect to receive less expensive electric bills once they begin operating.
