Dr. Moore Meets Michigan

Not one to tire easily, Dr. Patrick Moore hit the ground running on September 11, traveling across Michigan speaking to reporters and influential audiences at the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, Washtenaw Economic Club and World Affairs Council. Dr. Moore shared his views on nuclear energy and its benefits for the state’s environment, economy and community.

His day began at the Monroe County Community College for a speech to the Monroe Chamber of Commerce.  There he spoke to approximately 100 people and took a number of questions from the audience. He garnered media attention and coverage from Heritage Newspapers, Agora and Monroe Guardian.

Following his breakfast speech in Monroe, Dr. Moore delivered a luncheon address to approximately 300 guests of the Washtenaw Economic Club, which included a mix of business people and community leaders.  He was interviewed by the Ann Arbor News, Detroit News and WUOM, the NPR affiliate in Ann Arbor.

To close the day, Dr. Moore spoke to approximately 75 guests of the World Affairs Council of Grand Rapids, MI.  He detailed his path from Greenpeace co-founder and nuclear detractor to co-chair of CASEnergy and advocate of nuclear energy. His speech was covered by C-SPAN, Grand Rapids Press and WGVU, the NPR affiliate in Grand Rapids.

The significant turnout at the events and thought-provoking questions from the community indicate that the citizens of Michigan are approaching our nation’s energy challenges with an open-mind and engaging in intelligent discussions about the role nuclear energy can play to meet our growing needs.
