A Policy Roadmap for Clean Energy

Introduction

Greenhouse gas emission targets advocated by President Obama and Congress will mandate an 80 percent reduction of carbon dioxide by 2050.  Meeting this ambitious goal will require leveraging and growing existing clean air electricity options such as nuclear energy, the only resource available today that can provide baseload, on-demand electricity 24/7 without emitting greenhouse gases.

The U.S. Department of Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the National Academy of Sciences all agree that if the U.S. is to meet its greenhouse gas emission reduction goals, a significant expansion of nuclear energy in partnership with other sources of clean energy will be necessary.

The Clean and Safe Energy Coalition recommends a four-point policy roadmap to put the U.S. on a viable path toward realizing its clean energy goals.  To see the complete policy roadmap and more information on our four points forward, click here.
